TWISTERS

by LaRue Watts

When I was a child we feared each summer storm.
Tornados called twisters were sometimes the norm.
And tongue twisters could be a bit of a chore.
With "She selling seashells down by the shore."
In college, a parlor game...spots on a sheet
Had choices for placement of both hands and feet.
Still later a dance called the twist was the craze.
So twisters have been with us numerous ways.
But lately, it seems there's a new one to add.
To my way of thinking, decidedly bad.
The twisters of truth, the out and out lie
Can cause more destruction than those from the sky.
We must be alert to this villainous strain
Or there'll be no rainbow after this reign.
